Tarangire National Park and the Tarangire River are flooded with water and wildlife. Even in the dry season the river still flows making it a magnet for thirsty wildlife including elephant, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland.

Lake Manyara National Park is situated on the towering Rift Valley escarpment about a two and a half hour drive from Arusha.
